St. Charles North's Zach Hirsch Sports Person of the Month for April
St. Charles Toyota is the sponsor of Triblocal's Sports Person of the Month contest, and donates $500 to the winning student's school. The award and check presentation was part of the final game of the cross-town baseball series between St. Charles East and St. Charles North high schools. The games were played at Elfstrom Stadium, home of the Kane County Cougars.
Hirsch received the greatest number of votes cast in the monthly contest, defeating student-athletes from five other area high schools.
STC East's Natasha Lalos, Triblocal's Sports Person of the Month for March
St. Charles East High School celebrated basketball star Natasha Lalos being named Triblocal's Sports Person of the Month in March, recognizing her during a school assembly April 17.
Lalos was nominated for the contest for her contributions to East's girls varsity basketball team this year and won the popular voting in the March contest, defeating student-athletes from five other area high schools.
Steven Alf of St. Charles Toyota, the contest's sponsor, presented an award to Lalos and presented a $500 check to the high school in honor of Lalos' victory. St. Charles North's Jonathan DeMoss, Triblocal's Sports Person of the Month for February
DeMoss, a junior guard on the basketball team had a great January with 17.2 points per game, 6.4 rebounds per game and 3.7 assists per game. DeMoss is also a starting receiver for the varsity football team. St. Charles North received a $500 donation from the contest’s sponsors St. Charles Toyota
Batavia High School's Nick Fruendt's, Triblocal's Sports Person of the Month for January
Fruendt is a four-year starter for the boys basketball team, and his coach, Jim Roberts, said he shows great leadership skills and a willingness to work to make the everyone around him better. The senior is averaging 20 points and 8 rebounds per game as a guard/forward. The contest sponsor St. Charles Toyota donated $500 to Batavia High School.STC East's Laura Homann, Triblocal's Sports Person of the Month for December
The Triblocal Sports Person of the Month for December Laura Homann was honored Friday night in St. Charles. Dennis Alf, from St. Charles Toyota presented a check for $500 to the school. Homann was part of the Saints state Championship volleyball team.
Batavia High School's Shawn Steurer, Triblocal's Sports Person of the Month for November
Shawn Steurer of Batavia High School is the recipient of the TribLocal/ Sports Person of the Montha award for NOVEMBER. The presentation took place at center court prior to the Batavia vs. Geneva basketball game. STC East's Caroline Niski, Triblocal's Sports Person of the Month for October
The St. Charles East girls cross country team, which finished third in the state in Class 4A, and the volleyball team, which won the Class 4A volleyball title, were honored during a Dec. 12 girls/boys basketball doubleheader between the Saints and East Aurora.
Included in the festivities was a plaque presentation to volleyball star Caroline Niski, who was a TribLocal Athlete of the Month. The Saints athletic department received $500 courtesy of St. Charles Toyota because Niski won that honor. By Jeff Vorva
St. Charles North High School's Todd VanKerkhoff, Triblocal's Sports Person of the Month for September
Todd VanKerkhoff, a senior at St. Charles North High School, was voted Triblocal’s Sports Player of the Month for September.In addition to being a leader on the school’s cross country team, VanKerkhoff is a member of North’s Marching Band and was recently named a semifinalist in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program. The contest sponsor St. Charles Toyota donated $500 to St. Charles North High School.
